I read it! 2013

1. The Walk by Richard Paul Evans – This was a great book to read at the beginning of the year. I actually picked it up by chance in the free section at local used book store. I started reading it one evening right before bed on a long day and ended up finishing it the next day. It was a quick and easy read.

2. Executive Privilege by Phillip Margolin – Loved, loved, loved it.  I didn’t even know I liked political thrillers. I do.

3. World War One (History in an Hour) by Rupert Colley –

4. The Cross and the Shamrock by Hugh Quigley

5. Little Man and Dixon County War by Stan R. Mitchell – The author, Stan Mitchell, is an old high school pal. I usually don’t like westerns, but this was a good read. Check him out.

6. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo – Um, yeah, I admit I’m extremely proud of myself for finishing this lovely work of literary art. Yes, the book moved me.  And no, I have no interest in seeing the movie, not because I don’t like the story, but because I’m sure the book is so much better.

7. The Shack by William P. Young – I know, I’m probably the last person on earth to read this.

8. The Watchman by Robert Crais – Since I’ve read just about all of the Harlan Coben Myron Bolitar series of books, I found the Elvis Cole and Joe Pike series by Robert Crais. I must enjoy them, because I keep coming back for more.

9. Stay Close by Harlan Coben – and back to my favorite author of 2012. I was not disappointed.

10. Mercy by David Kessler

11. Fugitive by Phillip Margolin – Margolin knows how to write a thriller. I love thrillers. Yep. We’re friends.

12. They Shall See God by Athol Dickson – Loved.this.book.

13. The Last Detective by Robert Crais

14. Taken by Robert Crais – My favorite Elvis Cole/Joe Pike novel so far. It’s probably a good read if you have never read the Cole/Pike novels.

15. Edgar Allan Poe:

16. A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton I enjoyed the Alphabet Murder Books. I had to read some out of order due to availability at the library and it was no problem.

So, I’m making my way through James Patterson’s Alex Cross books, but I am at the mercy of my libraries and what it is in stock on my every 3 week trip. I have skipped around quite a bit, but it hasn’t bothered me. I plan to finish that series, and maybe do the Michael Bennett series in 2014. I am thinking about the Sookie Stackhouse books but I’m not sure yet. So, I’m impressed that I was able to do something I really loved in 2013 – I did much better this year than I did in 2012! I made time, and it was worth it.

I am working on creating my profile on goodreads.com.  I think that will be a better way to keep track.

Happy Reading in 2014!

Confessions: I only want to read Harlan Coben books.

Um. Yeah. That about sums it up. I tell myself I want to read all these books I should have read a long time ago. I download lots of things to my Kindle that I ambitiously hope to speed through like I do my beloved Harlan Coben mysteries. But the classics remain unread while I devour the Myron Bolitar series. I think I need an intervention – after I finish the series. 🙂

So, since the last time I updated my 2012 book list, I have finished Back Spin and I’m finishing up Long Lost. I last updated my book list on 3/27/12. It is 4/5/12. I think I have a problem. A Harlan Coben problem!

I’m still only 6% into Les Mis but I’ve finally been introduced to Jean Valjean, so it’s getting easier to read.

Well, off to find the next Harlan Coben classic novel to read!
