Interview with B-Man, 2.0

I have seen the “interview your child” ideas making the rounds on Pinterest lately, and it reminded me of when I interviewed my oldest child a few years ago. As it turns out, the interview questions I came across on Pinterest were the same ones I saw and posted in a note on facebook in 2009. In 2009, Bryson was 4 and we had just found out his little brother was going to join our family. NK was just one year old. It feels like a lifetime ago — how time flies when the little ones come and your life turns into to never ending game of catch up. There are so many things I wonder if I’m doing wrong in regards to raising my children, so many questions still unanswered, so much pure, unadulterated passion for my children that I think my heart might explode right of my chest!! And then there are times that I can honestly just sit back and enjoy my babies — really enjoy them, and what they have to say, and how they say it. Reading Bryson’s interview answers from just three years ago as compared to today brings me so much joy. Remembering him at that age and remembering what he was interested in at the time and just remembering the way he spoke — ah, I just can’t explain it. You know you never get the time back, and many times as a parent we just want to keep pushing forward, helping them achieve their next goal – whether it be walking or talking or potty training or reading or math homework – that we forget to really enjoy them as they are right now.  Right now becomes last year so quickly.
